No suspension order from LTFRB amid expiration of Grab accreditation

The accreditation for transport network company Grab Philippines has expired, but the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said it has not issued a suspension order for the company.

LTFRB spokesperson Atty. Aileen Lizada told GMA News Online that it has yet to approve the renewal application of Grab Philippines, whose accreditation expired  in July . She however said they have not issued a suspension order for the car-booking service.

"Wala kaming suspension order issued," Lizada said in a text message to GMA News Online.

Grab Philippines' country head Brian Cu earlier said in a Facebook post that they already submitted the requirements for their renewal of application, noting that Grab operations will be "business as usual."

"For those of you who may have questions [about] the renewal of Grab's TNC accreditation, we'd like to inform everyone that we have already submitted our application for renewal and all the necessary documents related to this as early as May and way ahead of the deadline," Cu said on Facebook.

"We are now waiting to hear back from the LTFRB Board, so for Grab and all its partners, it is business-as-usual," he added.

Meanwhile, Grab Philippines' government communications manager Fiona Nicolas said in press conference on Friday that they were assured by LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra that their operations will not be halted.

"Kahapon po masaya naman po kami, mismo kay LTFRB chairman Delgra during the hearing of the House of Representatives yesterday...Ang sabi ni chairman wala naman pong order from LTFRB to stop our operations. So, salamat po sa LTFRB for clarifying that," Nicolas added.

"So magtrabaho lang po tayo ng tama at sumunod sa batas trapiko. Hindi po tayo magkakaroon ng problema 'pag ginawa natin yun," she added. —JST/KVD, GMA News
