Work-at-home freelancers share tips on how to earn big money online

Some freelancers have ditched their traditional office work and skipped the awful day-to-day commuting experience and turned to job opportunities online.

In Ivan Mayrina's report on GMA's 24 Oras on Monday, CJ Cajolas, a former call center agent and a mother of three kids, shared how she was able to earn not lower than P100,000 a month by working online.

Cajolas was able to establish an organization, composed of about a hundred members, promoting the work from home lifestyle.

The report said that freelance virtual assistants, bloggers, writers, web designers earn an average of two dollars or P100 per hour.

John Pagulayan also has a success story on online freelancing.

Pagulayan does not have a college degree and juggled different types of jobs such as being a bagger, barker, janitor and service crew in the past.

After working as a call center agent, he decided to try working from home.

Pagulayan said his freelance career brought him higher income and has given him more time for his family.

He now employs other freelancers to write for him.

Both Cajoles and Pagulayan advised aspiring freelancers to look for online jobs that best suit their interest and qualifications.

"Apply lang po directly dun sa website, create your profile and there you can find clients. There are websites po that meet clients and freelancers. Ang kailangan mo lang ay computer, internet, and your skills, okay na," Cajoles added.

Despite the many advantages of the rising industry, an article posted on the online job portal jobstreet.com warned against online scams.

It said that one should think twice when the online employer asks for fees before granting a work-from-home job; too good to be true offers should also be avoided.

Freelancers should also be careful in disclosing personal information online. — Dona Magsino/BAP, GMA News
