Aguirre: De Lima's alleged sex video can be used in court

Even the supposed sex video featuring Senator Leila De Lima and her alleged paramour could be used against the lawmaker in court to establish her complicity in the illegal drug trade in the national penitentiary, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said on Tuesday.

Aguirre is now training his sights on Ronnie Dayan, De Lima's former driver and bodyguard, and also her alleged lover.

Dayan was allegedly in cahoots with high profile inmates in the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City to raise campaign funds for De Lima's senatorial campaign early this year.

"Malaki ang significance [of the videos]. Mag-eexplain yun why Ronnie Dayan was powerful, why Ronnie Dayan was able to extract money from the drug lords because an ordinary driver could not do it," Aguirre said in a press conference.

However, Aguirre said he can present the three sex videos in their possession if De Lima would deny her romantic relationship with Dayan or any other man.

"Halimbawa kung nag-trial tapos dine-deny ni De Lima yung relationship niya with Ronnie Dayan or anybody, then we could show that video," Aguirre said.

He added that even the House justice committee investigating the proliferation of illegal drugs in the NBP wanted to play the video in its televised inquiry.

Aguirre said lawmakers, preferably behind closed doors, may choose to watch the video, which has yet to be verified by the National Bureau of Investigation if authentic.

President Rodrigo Duterte has alleged in the past that De Lima had romantic affairs with a bodyguard and a motorcycle security escort.

The recent House inquiry on the proliferation of drugs inside the NBP had one witness testifying that De Lima and convicted kidnapper Jaybee Sebastian spent time together at his kubol or special cell.
