Death toll in Parañaque City plane crash rises to 14


(Updated 9:30 p.m.) The death toll in the wake of the Parañaque City plane crash rose to 14, Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. said Saturday evening.  A report on GMA News Flash Report quoted Bernabe as saying that two other people were confirmed killed in addition to the 12 fatalites that were earlier reported.  Also, Bernabe said some of the fatalities in the tragedy that took place past 2 p.m. were minors. Earlier, Chief Inspector Enrique Sy of the Parañaque police said three of the those initially reported killed were children while nine were adults, including the plane's pilot and co-pilot. Foreign news service Associated Press, meanwhile, reported that seven were killed in the incident. On the other hand, radio dzBB reported that over 20 people were rushed to the Parañaque Doctors Hospital shortly after the crash.
Minutes after the crash, Bernabe cited initial reports indicating the plane crashed near an elementary school.
 
"Apparently may tinamaang bahay (Initial reports indicate it may have hit a house)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.
 
He said the general area where the plane crashed was a "depressed area."
Volunteer firefighter group TXTFire said the crash caused a fire at the Doña Soledad Extension in Better Living subdivision area.
 
It said the fire had reached the fifth alarm as of 2:50 p.m. Meanwhile, an eye witness, Earl Esto,  told GMA News Online the plane crashed around 2:30 p.m. in F.
