Four LTO offices in Metro Manila still cannot issue licenses

At least four offices of the Land Transportation Office in Metro Manila still cannot issue drivers' licenses, two weeks after a mess over an unauthorized redesign of licenses broke out. But LTO Metro Manila head Teofilo Guadiz III said the other offices under his watch have started normalizing their operations, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported Tuesday. Guadiz said the four LTO offices still unable to issue licenses include Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, Quezon and San Juan Cities. Earlier this month, the LTO suspended the issuance of drivers' licenses due to a surprise design change by the contractor, Amalgamated Motors Philippines Inc. It said it would issue temporary licenses and waive penalties for license applicants as it continues to sort out the mess. LTO head Virginia Torres also said she has ordered the supplier to immediately revert to the old features of the license. — LBG, GMA News
