PAGASA: Hottest day so far this year in NCR at 35.2 degrees Celsius

Wednesday was the hottest day of the year so far in Metro Manila, with temperature reaching 35.2 degrees Celsius, state weather forecasters said.

PAGASA forecaster Ed Dianela said this was recorded at 3 p.m. at the Science Garden in Quezon City, radio dzBB's Rowena Salvacion reported.

Last Black Saturday, PAGASA recorded temperatures of up to 34.9 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila at 1:50 p.m.

Before that, it recorded up to 34.8 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila last Holy Tuesday and Good Friday.

However, PAGASA forecaster Buddy Javier said temperatures in Subic had reached 36.7 degrees Celsius, and 35.5 degrees Celsius in Tuguegarao.

On the other hand, PAGASA had warned temperatures may still go up in the coming weeks as the summer may last until May.

GMA's resident meteorologist, Nathaniel “Mang Tani” Cruz, said that the hottest day ever recorded in Metro Manila —based on PAGASA data— was on May 17, 1915, when the temperature spiked to 38.6 degrees Celsius in the Port Area.

Meanwhile, the hottest day ever recorded in the Philippines happened in Tuguegarao City on May 11, 1969 with a temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius.
