Ex-PBA import Cornley arrested again, this time for assault on gf

Former Philippine Basketball Association import Jamelle Cornley is back behind bars, this time after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in her condominium in Quezon City, Thursday.

The incident occurred at Barangay Kalusugan in Quezon City, radio dzBB reported Friday.

It was the second time Cornley was arrested since March, when he made a scene at a Quezon City hotel and seriously injured a policeman while resisting arrest.

Police quoted Cornley's girlfriend as saying she was lying on the bed when he suddenly slapped her, and dragged her to the balcony and tried to push her.

Cornley also allegedly got a knife and threatened to kill her with it. The girlfriend asked her helper to seek assistance, and the helper called the police.

The former import had led the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters team to its first championship during the 2012 Governors' Cup, but his PBA career has been put on hold due to his off-court incidents. - AMD, GMA News
