6 dead, 29 injured in 2-bus crash on EDSA

At least six people were killed while 29 were injured after two passenger buses figured in an accident along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue in Makati City early Thursday.

While Makati City police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban Jr. initially said five were killed in the accident, one of the injured died while undergoing treatment.

"Lima ang nasawimpalad dito, apat na lalaki at isang babae (Initially, five were killed. They included four males and one female)," Lukban said in an interview on dzBB radio.

He did not immediately name the fatalities, even as an updated dzBB report said one of the 30 injured died from injuries.

Lukban said "more or less" 30 passengers were injured.

A report by dzBB's Rodil Vega said the accident occurred on the southbound part of EDSA at Magallanes bus stop in Makati City.

Traffic in the area was snarled due to the accident.

Initial investigation showed one of the buses hit a bus that was loading passengers. — LBG, GMA News
