Sri Lankan accused of spreading Pinay ex-GF’s private photos online

A factory worker has sought the help of the Philippine National Police after her Sri Lankan boyfriend spread her private pictures after she broke up with him.

An exclusive report by GMA News' Emil Sumangil on 24 Oras said alias Melissa, a factory worker, met 43-year-old Dharsana Kodithu-Wakku on social media wherein they had intimate conversations for more than a month.

Melissa said she and the Sri Lankan talked almost everyday. She the conversations included exchanging private pictures.

She, however, said Wakku became paranoid of his partner after more than just two months of being officially a couple.

Kasi kung anu-ano iniisip niya," Melissa said.

Melissa said the incident made her decide to end their relationship which enraged Wakku.

Wakku then made good his threat to release her private pictures.

Gusto kong gumanti pero paano?" she added.

PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group spokesperson Supt. Jay Guillermo said they have jurisdiction of the case since the victim involves a Filipino citizen.

"Ang jurisdiction kasi ng pag-iimbestiga ng Cybercrime it's either yung victim o kaya yung suspect ay nasa Pilipinas, so puede nating imbestigahan yan," Guillermo said.

Guillermo said that the PNP can coordinate with the International Police to prosecute Wakku once the case pushes through.

He cautioned the public to not easily trust and send private pictures of videos to people they meet on social media.

—Joseph Tristan Roxas/NB, GMA News
