People suffer broken bones after jumping out of Resorts World Manila

Some people who were injured in the Resorts World Manila shooting incident Friday suffered broken bones as they jumped out of the building, according to a report by Victoria Tulad on Unang Balita.

Other injuries were due to smoke inhalation.

A total of 54 people were injured in the incident, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director Ronald dela Rosa told reporters on Friday.

The injured were immediately brought to four hospitals: San Juan de Dios Educational Foundation Incorporated Hospital, Pasay General Hospital, Philippine Air Force General Hospital in Villamor Airbase, and St. Luke's Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City.

At the San Juan de Dios hospital, an elderly man was complaining of pain when he was brought in past 2:30 a.m.

A bone was dislocated and seen protruding from his left leg. He jumped out of the building during the incident.

Another man who was brought in with him was cradling his arm. A rescuer said his shoulder was dislocated.

Among the injured brought to San Juan de Dios hospital were foreigners.

A Korean working at Resorts World Manila said one of his co-workers inhaled gas and is possibly in critical condition.

Gunshots heard

Casino customer Marietta Cansino, who was interviewed by Tulad at San Juan de Dios hospital, said she was at the gaming area at the casino's second floor when men suddenly went inside, shouting.

Shortly afterward, she heard gunshots, then inhaled what seemed to be teargas.

"Ayun, nagdilim na, wala na kaming nakitang ilaw," she said.

Cansino and other customers were brought to the hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.

She is now in stable condition along with her two relatives who work for Resorts World.

At the Pasay General Hospital, meanwhile, Joran dela Cruz was brought in on a stretcher after he got injured when he jumped from the second floor of Resorts World Manila.

According to rescuer Dean Hilario, Dela Cruz complained of severe pain in the feet. —KG, GMA News
