Cop shoots cop in Caloocan over toothpick


A Manila policeman shot a member of the Caloocan City police following an argument over a toothpick in an eatery on Saturday.

A radio dzBB report said Caloocan City police chief Senior Superintendent Jemar Modequillo identified the injured policeman as Senior Police Officer 1 Rommel Bautista.

Modequillo said Bautista, who is now confined at the Caloocan City Medical Center, was shot by Police Officer 2 Paul John dela Fuente of the Manila Police District.

He said Dela Fuente got irked with a certain Danny Sta. Maria took a toothpick from his table in an eatery along Apolinario Mabini Street in Barangay 18, Caloocan City.

After the argument, Sta. Maria left but came back accompanied by Bautista.

Modequillo said that according to witnesses, the Manila policemen immediately pulled out his gun and fired at Sta. Maria but the bullet hit Bautista.

Dela Fuente was able to escape after the shooting and is now the subject of a police manhunt. —ALG, GMA News
