PNP to seek Interpol help in locating suspect in Atio Castillo death

The Philippine National Police has asked the Interpol's assistance in locating one of the suspects in the death of hazing victim Horacio Castillo III, PNP chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said on Thursday,

Dela Rosa said they will also be asking for the cancellation of the passport of Ralph Caballes Trangia.

“We will do that (asking Interpol to locate the suspect). Sana nasa Taiwan pa siya ngayon, hindi pa naglipat sa ibang bansa.,” he told reporters after visiting wounded PO1 Ronald Aniceto at the Chinese General Hospital.

“Ipapa-cancel namin ‘yung kanyang passport para magiging undocumented alien na siya doon sa Taiwan and Taiwan authorities will be forced to deliver him back to the Philippines,” he added.

As to the other suspects, the PNP chief urged them to surrender and face the charges that will be filed against them.

“Sana mag-surrender na kayo, makonsensiya naman kayo. Alam ko na hindi kayo masasamang tao, hindi kayo kriminal. Siguro nadala lang kayo sa bugso ng damdamin o challenge of manhood sa fraternity. Nachallenge lang kayo kaya nagawa n’yo ‘yun,” Dela Rosa said.

“I know physically hindi kayo masamang tao so you might as well surrender. Huwag iwasan ang problemang ito, harapin ito dahil nangyari na e,” he added.

Dela Rosa said police could still arrest the suspects as part of the follow up operations.

“We can still effect arrest dahil ongoing. Kung malocate natin pwede natin silang arestuhin,” Dela Rosa said.

Asked what the PNP will do if the suspects decide to fight it out with the arresting police officers, Dela Rosa said he did not believe they will do that.

“I’m sure hindi maglaban ang mga tao na iyan dahil educated yan, law students ‘yan e. Kung manlaban man sila, we have no other recourse but to defend ourselves. Edukado ang mga ‘yan, kapag na corner ‘yan susurender agad ‘yan,” Dela Rosa said.

The PNP chief assured the family of Castillo that they will do everything for justice to be served.

Dela Rosa said he knows what they feel as he is also a father who has a son who in school. Dela Rosa’s son, Rock, is now a plebe at PNP Academy.

“May anak din ako na estudyante, pareho tayong parents.  Alam ko ang sakit ng damdamin na inyong nae-experience ngayon.  Rest assured that the PNP will continue to seek for truth and justice sa pagkamatay ng inyong anak.  We will give you assurance that justice shall be served sa inyong anak,” he said. —NB/KVD, GMA News
