National Day of Protest went generally peaceful —NCRPO chief

The rallies and activities conducted in Metro Manila during the National Day of Protest on Thursday went generally peaceful, National Capital Region Police Office Police chief Director Oscar Albayalde said Friday.

"There was no report of any untoward incident from all five police districts," Albayalde said in a press statement.

He thanked the rallyists, both pro- and anti- government, for heeding their call to be calm and vigilant of their ranks.

He said the total number of anti-government protesters at Luneta was around 7,500 to 8,000 while the pro-government rallyists at Plaza Miranda were more or less 6,500. Those at Mendiola, also pro-government, were more or less 3,500, Albayalde said.

"I also extend my gratitude to all our men and women on the ground including our standby forces. Lahat kami ay nagbantay hanggang natapos ang araw na naging maayos at tahimik naman," he said. —KG, GMA News
