5,300 cops to be deployed in NCR for Undas — Albayalde

Around 5,300 personnel from the National Capital Region Police Office will be deployed to secure the public during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day next week.

NCRPO chief Director Oscar Albayalde said there will be skeletal forces to be deployed as early as Sunday.

“Skeletal deployment starting Sunday and full deployment on Monday. More or less 5,300 gagamiting mga pulis dito bukod pa sa 1,900 na barangay tanod na tutulong sa amin at civilian volunteers,” he told reporters.

Albayalde and Quezon City Police District head Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar inspected bus terminals, malls, and the LRT station in Cubao.

Albayalde said they are assuming a high threat level, especially in Metro Manila, as the public remember their departed loved ones and with the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit next month.

“Mataas yung threat level na ina-assume namin dito sa Manila partikular dahil dito sa Undas at ASEAN summit natin,” he said.

He added that they intensified their intelligence gathering.

“Kaya pinaigting namin ang intelligence gathering. Ang intelligence operatives namin nakikipagtulungan sa counterparts from Armed Forces of the Philippines and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency,” he said. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
