MRT3 implements partial service, unloads riders Thursday morning

The Metro Rail Transit 3 ran only from North Avenue Station to Shaw Boulevard Station and vice versa for about half an hour on Thursday morning due to train failure.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Rails Cesar Chavez announced that provisional service was implemented past 9 a.m. to around 9:30 a.m., according to a report by Allan Gatus on Super Radyo dzBB.

The train line’s service status log said the partial service, which stemmed from the failure of a train running between Buendia and Ayala Avenue Stations, started at 9:03 a.m., while normal operations resumed at 9:30 a.m.

Photos by YouScooper JP Tanyag showed MRT3 riders walking along the tracks toward Ayala Avenue Station.

At 8:57 a.m., shortly before the provisional service was implemented, a southbound train unloaded passengers at Quezon Avenue Station due to a technical problem.

The train line saw one unloading incident due to a technical problem on Wednesday.

All this, despite DOTr's claim that the MRT3’s performance has been improving since the government ended its contract with the train line’s “poorly performing” maintenance provider. —Nicole-Anne C. Lagrimas/KG, GMA News
