MMDA in talks with malls along EDSA to extend modified hours beyond Jan. 15

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday said it asked owners of malls along EDSA to consider implementing their modified mall hours beyond January 15.

Some malls along EDSA have earlier agreed to modify their hours of operation since October 15 to ease holiday traffic and give way to commuters. These malls adjusted their hours to 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and committed to implement these until Jan. 15, 2018.

The MMDA said some malls were initially set to resume normal hours by January 15.

MMDA assistant general manager for planning Jojo Garcia on Thursday met with the owners of shopping malls and other stakeholders to discuss the possibility of extending their implementation of adjusted business hours.

At least 25 mall owners in attendance were asked to submit on Friday data on the modified hours' effect on their sales. —KG, GMA News
