OFW files cybercrime complaint vs. American boyfriend

A 53-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) filed a cybercrime complaint against her 67-year-old American boyfriend, a "24 Oras" report by Emil Sumangil said Wednesday.

The victim identified only as "Mila" narrated that her boyfriend, Stephen Henry Giers, supposedly spread her private photos after she ended her relationship with him.

After almost a year, Mila said she had found out that Giers was cheating on her and that he was active on adult dating sites.

Mila tried to end her relationship with the American. But Giers then started posting her private photos online and sent the same to her relatives.

Mila has filed a formal complaint against the American at the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group.

Mila said their almost two-year relationship started with an exchange of chat messages until Giers decided to live in the Philippines.

According to Mila, Giers even vowed to help her finance the education of her children.

The PNP Anti-Cyber Crime Group has accepted Mila's complaint. They are collating pieces of evidence before submitting these to the fiscal.

Authorities, meanwhile, warned the public against this kind of individual. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BAP, GMA News
