Rerouting set in Manila on Sunday for INC activity


A portion of Roxas Boulevard in Manila will be closed for a few hours on Sunday for the "Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty" organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC).

On Wednesday, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Deputy Chairman Frisco San Juan advised motorists to avoid  Roxas Boulevard and areas that would be affected by the event from May 5 midnight up to late afternoon on May 6.

San Juan said more than 500,000 individuals are expected to walk from the Cultural Center of Philippines (CCP) to the Quirino Grandstand.

According to the MMDA's advisory, designated alternate routes for the main road's closure on Sunday are as follows:

From Radial Road 10 (R-10)/Anda Circle, left at Andres Soriano Jr. St. right at Gen. Luna St. straight to Maria Orosa St., right at T.M. Kalaw, left at M.H. Del Pilar St. to destination and vice versa.

From A. Bonifacio Drive, left at P. Burgos, right at Maria Orosa St., right at T.M. Kalaw, left at M.H. Del Pilar St. to destination and vice versa.

From A. Bonifacio, left at P. Burgos, right at Taft Avenue, to destination and vice versa.

From P. Burgos, right at Finance Road, at left at Ayala Boulevard, right at San Marcelino, left at U.N. Avenue, right at Pres. Quirino Ave., left at South Super Highway to destination.

From P. Burgos, right at Finance Road, right at Taft Avenue, left at Pres. Quirino., right at South Super Highway to destination.

The MMDA said parts of Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, Buendia Avenue, Taft Avenue and Road 10 could also be utilized in the event.

The MMDA will deploy 200 personnel composed of traffic enforcers, members of the road emergency group and roadside clearing group to guide motorists, help maintain peace and order, and do post-activity cleanup in the area after the charity walk. — BAP, GMA News
