MPD Station 5 chief, 3 other cops suspended over alleged extortion

The Manila Police District Station 5 chief has been relieved of his post after three police officers were arrested for alleged extortion charges, Luisito Santos reported on Super Radyo's DZBB.

NCRPO Chief Guillermo Eleazar issued the order as he confronted the suspects early Thursday morning.

The three police officers accused of extortion who were also suspended are Police Officer 1 Radam Reyes Manglicmot, PO1 Edmar Dalusung Cayanan, and PO1 Jeff-Pee Macapagal Calaguas.

Earlier reports said the three, disguised as PDEA agents, apprehended 5 people and and demanded from one of the victims, Monica,  to pay P300,000 for her release.

Doubting that his wife's arrest was illegal, he asked help from the police, who immediately conducted an entrapment operation and arrested the suspects.

When they were asked by Eleazar about their assigned post, one police officer answered they belong to the Anti-Crime Unit.
