Provincial buses restricted from Cubao–Pasay stretch of EDSA starting July 16

Provincial buses will no longer be allowed on the section of EDSA stretching from Cubao to Pasay during certain rush hours starting July 16, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced.

According to a report on GMA News' "Balitangali" on Sunday, both northbound and southbound provincial buses will not be allowed to pass through EDSA from Cubao in Quezon City to Pasay City.

The restrictions will be implemented from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays to ease the expected traffic congestion due to road repairs.

"Sa pamamagitan po ng regulasyon na 'to, mababawas po sa araw araw during those ban ng morning, afternoon, evening rush hours, mababawas po ang 2,000 buses" Metro Manila Council Secretariat Crisanto Saruca, Jr. said in a separate report on GMA's "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday.

The same report said those coming from the south may be dropped off at the Southwest Integrated Provincial Terminal in Pasay City.

Among the road repairs scheduled are the drainage enhancement project of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) from A. Bonifacio starting July 1 and the construction of the elevated guideway for the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT7) along North Avenue starting July 2.

Also expected to contribute to congestion are the emergency leak repairs along EDSA-Shaw Boulevard starting July 7 and the replacement of the Buendia Bridge next month. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
