Police file murder raps vs. 6 more detainees in killing of Genesis Argoncillo

Authorities on Wednesday filed murder complaints against six more suspects in the killing of Genesis “Tisoy” Argoncillo, a detainee who died while in police custody.

A special report in relation to the death of Argoncillo shared to GMA News Online,  stated that the Quezon City Police District has filed a supplemental complaint for the case of murder against the following suspects:

•     Anthony Lapid;
•     Anthony Tolentino;
•     Raymart Guevarra;
•     Ericson Noriega;
•     Marlon Gandala; and
•     Renato Dizon

The QCPD on June 22 also filed murder complaints against Richard Bautista and Justin Mercado.

All of the eight suspects facing murder charges are fellow detainees of Argoncillo at the QCPD Station 4 in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Bautista and Mercado are alleged members of Sputnik Gang and supposedly conspired with other detainees in beating up Argoncillo.

Argoncillo was declared dead on arrival around 10:15 a.m. on June 19. His death certificate showed that the immediate cause of his death was "multiple blunt force trauma" on his "neck, head, chest and upper extremities."

Witnesses said Argoncillo was arrested on Friday for being shirtless in front of a store in Barangay Sauyo.

But police denied allegations that Argoncillo was arrested due to the implementation of city ordinances or the anti-tambay operations, saying that he was nabbed due to "alarm and scandal." — RSJ, GMA News
