Convoy beats red light in Makati, occupants hit traffic aides

Complaints for assault and physical injury have been filed against a resident of an exclusive village, his wife and bodyguards after they were caught on CCTV berating and hitting barangay traffic enforcers after their convoy ran a red light on EDSA earlier this week.

The CCTV footage, taken around 1 p.m. on Monday at the corner of Gate 1 of Magallanes Village and EDSA, has since gone viral. It showed a convoy of a black sedan and a white SUV getting flagged down after the alleged traffic violation.

An enforcer said that a man in the backseat of the car cursed them.

Not wanting any more trouble, the enforcers motioned for them to go on without a violation, but Padilla’s wife, identified as Glocelle Razon, went down from the car and started cursing too.

Men from the SUV alighted and went after the barangay enforcers.

One of the men punched an enforcer while  Razon slapped another enforcer on the nape.

Records of Barangay Magallanes showed that the incident was just the latest in the long list of blotter complaints recorded against Padilla, his wife and his bodyguards.

In a blotter entry dated April 30, 2015, a village security guard narrated that Padilla spat at him, insulted and threatened him when he responded to a commotion that involved Padilla’s group in the village.

“Mga basura! And then spitted at s/g —-. “Magkano lang ang buhay niyo 1 milyon pagbabarilin ko kayong lahat matutuwa pa mga pamilya niyo," Padilla was quoted as saying in a blotter entry.

Aside from village guards, barangay officials also noted several threats issued by Padilla and his group against fellow residents.

“Binu-bully raw sila ganun tinatapatan ang bahay nila parang pinagbabantaan. Parang nagke create ng trouble” Candido Ruiz, the barangay ex-o and peace and order officer told GMA News.

The Makati Police, meanwhile will start looking into the activities of Padilla.

“We will dig deeper into this kasi parang lumalabas takot nga daw yung mga residente doon dito kay Arnold Padilla siguro kung kailangan mag apply ng search warrant for them o arrest we will do it” Makati City chief of police Senior Superintendent Rogelio Simon said.

Arnold Padilla was a primary suspect in the death of his sister Yvonne Chua, who died after a “gift” which contained 5 hand grenades exploded in her residence in Taguig on December 29, 2010. Her six year old was also wounded in the incident.

Arnold Padilla’s cousin, Manuel, pointed to Arnold and his mother as the brains behind the murder—an allegation that they denied.

GMA News sought Padilla to get his side at his Magallanes village residence but was told that he was not home. —NB, GMA News
