Around 400 passengers unloaded after MRT3 encounters technical glitch

Some 400 passengers were unloaded on Sunday morning after a Metro Rail Transit-3 train encountered a technical problem.

The affected passengers were unloaded from the southbound train at Ayala station at 8:18 a.m., the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in a tweet.

The passengers were able to board the next train which arrived at the station in six minutes, the DOTr said.

The problem was traced to an electrical failure in the train's motor.

"One cause of electrical failure in motor is worn-out electrical sub-components (i.e. main chopper, regulator, insulator)," the DOTr said.

Such a problem can be addressed through preventive maintenance and replacement of worn out parts, it added.

The agency apologized to the public for the inconvenience caused by the incident. —KG, GMA News
