Keanna Reeves arrested for cyberlibel

Former actress Keanna Reeves, real name Janet Derecho Duterte, was arrested on Monday for cyber libel.

According to a police report issued at 12:45 pm on Monday, Reeves was arrested by the police in Timog Avenue corner Scout Ybardolaza in Quezon City based on a warrant issued by Judge Maria Florencia Formes-Baculo of Laguna Regional Trial Court Branch 34.

The Revised Penal Code defines libel as a “public and malicious imputation of a crime, or of a vice or defect, real or imaginary, or any act, omission, condition, status, or circumstance tending to cause the dishonor, discredit, or contempt of a natural or juridical person, or to blacken the memory of one who is dead.”

Reeves was brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Office in Laguna for documentation and proper disposition.

Judge Baculo has recommended a P20,000 bail for Reeves.

The arrest warrant against the former actress was issued last November 7. —NB, GMA News
