Church microphone thief caught on CCTV

A man who seemed to express his faith was in fact stealing a microphone cable from a church in Taguig City as his act was caught on a CCTV footage, James Agustin reported on Unang Balita.

The suspect could be mistaken to be just a regular church goer.

However, in the footage taken from the CCTV of Santo Niño de Taguig Parish, he is seen approaching an image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help that is placed atop a cabinet in front of the altar.

He proceeded to wipe the image, which is a common form of veneration, but he made a curious gesture of looking around the church.

At this moment, he gets the cable hidden in a drawer behind the religious image and placed this in his bag. He wiped the image again with his hand then left.

It turns out, the same man seen in the church's CCTV footage has been stealing microphones and microphone cables from other churches as well.

The same incidents were reported at the Our Lady of the Poor Parish church, Saints Peter and John Parish church in Potrero, Malabon and San Isidro-San Roque Parish church in Meycauayan, Bulacan.

Through the CCTV footage in these churches, the suspect is seen stealing microphones and cables from the sacristy, altar, and even from the commentator's lectern.

The parish priests and lay leaders from these churches are all hoping that the thief be arrested soon. — BAP, GMA News
