Kris Aquino on qualified theft raps against ex-business partner: 'This could have been fixed'

Queen of all media Kris Aquino appeared before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday for the reaffirmation of her complaint against a former business partner who allegedly misappropriated the funds of her production company Kristina C. Aquino Productions (KCAP).

“This could have been fixed. I reiterate, six times nag-attempt ang side namin. Kung patuloy naman na tinatanggihan ka, ikaw na 'yung naargabyado, meron nang mali doon,” Kris told reporters.

Nicardo “Nico” Falcis II supposedly charged P1,270,980.31 to the KCAP credit card for his personal expenses without Kris' consent.

Eight of the 44 counts of qualified theft filed against Nico on October 12 were being handled by the Mandaluyong City Prosecutors Office.

 

 

Other counts of qualified theft were filed before city prosecutors in San Juan, Taguig, Pasig, Makati, Manila and Quezon City.

Despite the betrayal of her trust, Kris said she still has gratitude for Nico — but she had to take legal measures because the conflict had something to do with her children’s well-being in the future.

“We have gratitude. I’m sorry that it came to this because I had to see papers that I should not have seen but unfortunately, I did,” she said.

“We shared something special. You helped me rise up when I was down. May utang na loob ako. Sinasabi mo kumukuha ako ng powerful lawyers, powerful friends, bakit hindi ko ‘yun gagawin eh para sa kinabukasan ito ng mga anak ko?” she added, addressing the message to Nico who did not appear before the prosecutor.

 

 

Kris said she treated Nico as family and even protected him by not sharing his name publicly until Wednesday despite the financial issue that was discovered in July.

"Kaya kitang patawarin pero magpakita ka naman sa akin na you’re at least trying to meet me halfway because I've done more than my share," she said.

The actress said she hopes that this conflict shall be fixed soon, so that she may be relieved of stress and be able to regain her health.

In an Instagram post she made before appearing to the prosecutor's office, Kris said that though her siblings were willing to help, she no longer wants them to be dragged to the issue.

Nico's camp refused to give any statement on the issue.

"Our pleadings will speak for itself. My client is innocent and eventually the truth will come out," Attorney Regidor Ponferada, lawyer of Nico, said.

Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Lourdes Javelosa-Indunan has set the date for the filing of the counter-affidavit on November 26. — LA, GMA News
