‘Gener’ may trigger floods, landslides in Palawan - Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines - State weather forecasters warned residents in Palawan Friday afternoon against possible flash floods and landslides triggered by rains brought by tropical depression "Gener." The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Friday afternoon that as of 2 p.m., "Gener" was 360 kilometers west northwest of Coron, Palawan. It said "Gener" packed maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and is forecast to move west northwest at 15 kph. "Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Palawan which may trigger landslides and flashfloods," it said. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Western Visayas and Palawan with moderate to rough seas. Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest and south will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the southwest over the rest of the country. Coastal waters over these areas will be slight to moderate except during thunderstorms. - GMANews.TV
