Aquino arrives home from Myanmar


President Benigno Aquino III arrived home shortly after midnight Friday from Myanmar, where he represented the Philippines at the 22nd World Economic Forum on East Asia.
 
Aquino arrived aboard a chartered Philippine Airlines PR-001 flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 12:38 a.m. Saturday, radio dzBB reported.
 
Officials on hand to welcome him included Education Secretary Armin Luistro and presidential political affairs adviser Ronald Llamas.
 
Aquino left for Myanmar before 8:00 a.m. Friday to attend the WEF, which gathered 900 participants representing some 55 countries.
 
During his trip to Myanmar, Aquino met with Myanmar President Thein Sein and discussed enhancing bilateral relations, and invited him to visit the Philippines.
 
Aquino also had an opportunity to meet 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi. - VVP, GMA News
