Israeli Embassy suspends consular services due to 'labor dispute'


The Israeli Embassy in Manila on Monday suspended consular services indefinitely due to what it said was an ongoing labor dispute "instituted by the union of Foreign Affairs employees calling for a better working environment."

In an announcement posted on its website, the embassy said the union "escalated" the matter after a series of unsuccessful negotiations.

"As a result, upon the instruction of the union, Consular Services are suspended indefinitely until further notice for both Israeli citizens and foreign passport holders," it said.

It added the manpower agencies concerned have been duly notified of the situation.
