Walang Pasok: No classes in some schools in NCR, parts of Luzon on Tuesday due to rain and floods

(Updated 7:26 a.m., 20 August 2013) With the continued heavy rain due to the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm Maring (Trami), several local government units and schools in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon have decided to suspend classes for Tuesday.

In Manila, Mayor Joseph Estrada said classes will be suspended in all levels on Tuesday.

In Mandaluyong City, Mayor Benhur Abalos declared a suspension of classes in all levels, in both private and public schools.

The cities of Las Piñas and Parañaque suspended classes in all levels, both public and private, due to floods in their areas. However, government workers in Parañaque are expected to show up at work Tuesday. In Pasay City, there will be no classes from preschool to high school in private and public schools, according to Mayor Antonino Calixto. In Navotas City, classes at all levels were suspended, in both public and private schools on Tuesday due to expected heavy rain and high tide. Radio dzBB reported that Tuesday Caloocan City classes were suspended in all levels, public and private schools. Mayor Herbert Bautista suspened Quezon City classes in all levels, both public and private schools. Radio dzBB reported that Tuesday Caloocan City classes were suspended from pre-school to high school in public and private schools Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. ordered Makati City classes in all levels, and in public and private schools, suspended for Tuesday. Marikina City classes are suspended from preschool to high school, in public and private schools. Classes at the college level will resume, dzBB quoted Mayor Del de Guzman as saying. Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi suspended classes in all levels, public and private. The Pasig City public information office said there will be no classes Tuesday in all levels, in public and private schools. Pasay City classes are suspended in all levels. All classes, in all levels, both public and private schools are also suspended in Pateros, San Juan and Taguig. In Valenzuela, pre-school to high school classes, public and private, are suspended. Outside Metro Manila As of 4:15 p.m. Monday, Cavite declared no classes in all levels, private and public. The province is under a state of calamity due to extreme floods and rains.

As of 5:45 p.m., Mayor Arlene Arcillas of Sta Rosa, Laguna announced that classes in all levels remain suspended on Tuesday.

"All levels, preschool to college, wala na pong pasok sa Sta. Rosa bukas," Arcillas was quoted as saying on the city's official Facebook page. Arcillas said she will make another announcement should she decide to suspend work for government workers as well.

"I will decide later para sa city government operations," she said. As of 6:25 p.m., Laguna governor ER Ejercito announced via Facebook that he has decided to suspend classes in all levels for the entire province of Laguna, Tuesday. "Dahil na rin sa masamang panahon at para matiyak ang kaligtasan ng ating mga estudyante ay minarapat po nating suspendihin ang klase mula preschool hanggang kolehiyo (ALL LEVELS) bukas, August 20, ayon na rin po sa abiso ng ating Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office," Ejercito said. Bataan has also declared suspension of classes for all levels, public and private, on Tuesday, according to the Department of Education. In Pangasinan, classes are suspended from preschool to high school, in both public and private schools. In Bulacan, classes will be suspended on Tuesday due to expected heavy rain and flooding. As of 8 p.m., the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council listed the following areas with class suspensions: Malolos City: Mayor Christian Natividad declared class suspensions in the pre-elementary, elementary and high school levels, public and private. Meycauyan City: Mayor Joan Alarilla suspended classes in all levels, public and private. Hagonoy: Mayor Amboy Manlapaz suspended classes in the pre-elementary, elementary and high school levels, public and private. Obando: Mayor Edwin Santos suspended classes in all levels, public and private. Baliuag: Mayor Carolina Dellosa suspended all classes in all levels, for both public and private schools. In Angono in Rizal province, Mayor Gerry Calderon said classes in all levels are suspended both public & private, Tuesday, Aug. 20. In Taytay also in Rizal province, Mayor Janet De Leon-Marcado said "classes are suspended in all levels, public and private schools, tomorrow, August 20,2013." Government office work has been suspended, as well. San Mateo, Rizal, Tuesday classes from pre-school to high school, both public and private, are suspended. Mayor Lito Tanjuatco has suspended classes in Tanay, Rizal, from pre-school to high school levels. Colegio San Agustin in Biñan, Laguna: Classes are suspended in all levels.

FEU Manila, FEU East Asia College and FEU Makati: Due to flooding and continuous heavy rain, classes and office operations are suspended tomorrow, August 20, 2013. We advise to take all necessary safety steps. PUP (Sta. Rosa, Laguna campus): Classes still suspended Aug. 20 due to severe flooding in the area.

University of Perpetual Help in Biñan, Laguna: No classes tomorrow in all levels. San Pedro College of Business Administration in San Pedro, Laguna: Classes are still suspended tom, Aug 20, due to inclement weather and severe flooding. Quezon University has suspended all classes and work for Tuesday, August 20. Our Lady of Fatima University has suspended Tuesday classes at all levels, at all campuses, according to University Registrar Dr. Ferdinand Santos.
