Some 2,800 families and up to 10,000 residents in areas affected by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) may get homes and jobs as an early Christmas gift from two government agencies.

The Department of Public Works and Highways said over the weekend it is fast-tracking the construction of 142 bunkhouses and may complete 119 of them to house some 2,856 families by Dec. 22.
