Another lady lawmaker hits Pacquiao ‘below the belt’

Another lady lawmaker on Friday asked people’s champion Manny “Pacman" Pacquiao to immediately settle his one-night stand dispute with a 24-year old waitress as prolonging the issue would give “injustice" to his alleged two-year old son. Occidental Mindoro Rep. Ma. Amelita Villarosa joined Gabriela party-list Rep. Liza Maza in castigating Pacquiao over his extra-marital affairs with Joanna Rose Bacosa, his ex-girlfriend. “The child has to be provided because the child did not ask to be born. Let’s protect the children," Villarosa said. The Gabriela women’s party-list group on Thursday scored Pacquiao for not being a good example to the youth who idolize him after admitting that he had an extra-marital affair with Bacosa. Bacosa, accompanied by her lawyer Victor Rodriguez, had filed charges against Pacquiao and aired openness to subject the child for a DNA test. Bacosa filed a complaint against Pacquiao before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9262, a law prohibiting violence against women and children after the boxer allegedly threatened to kidnap the two-year-old son. But House majority floor leader and Davao City Rep. Prospero Nograles appealed to the public, particularly to Gabriela women’s group not to make hasty judgment that Pacquiao ignored his responsibilities to his alleged son. Nograles said Pacquiao should be given enough time to hear his side on the veracity of allegations that he fathered a child such as waiting for the results of DNA test. “Allegation must first be proven true. Only the court can do that. Eh ang tingin na sa kanya ng iba guilty na," Nograles said. Nograles said, “Let’s not give him problems so he can win the next fight for our country. Do not hit Pacman below the belt." Isabela Rep. Rodolfo Albano III believes that the issue hounding Pacquiao is a personal matter that should be best left to him. “Kahit naman sino mayroong kahinaan. Hindi porke hero sa boxing siPacman hindi na siya makakagawa ng ganoon (anak sa ibang babae) kung totoo man. Hayaan na lamang natin sa kanyang personal na buhay iyan," Albano said.-GMANEWS.TV
