Groups hold protest actions amid Manila’s hosting of APEC Summit
While 21 economic leaders are expected to begin their Asia-Pacific Economic (APEC) leaders' meeting on Wednesday afternoon, a number of groups staged protest actions in different parts of Metro Manila.
According to a series of tweets by GMA News and Super Radyo DZBB, some of the protesters were indigenous peoples. They staged a "padugo" ritual to supposedly shoo away evil spirits away from Malacañang.

In a report by Julius Segovia on GMA News TV's Balitanghali, militants also staged a protest in front of the Supreme Court in Manila to oppose the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) between the Philippines and the US.
Aside from these, members of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) dressed as animal mascots staged their own protest action in Makati City on Wednesday.
PETA wants economic leaders the importance of climate change awareness and the conversion to vegan life for the welfare of the animals.
National Union of Peoples' Lawyers (NUPL) said that they are going to defend the foreigners involved in any rallies.
