PILIPINAS DEBATES 206

Mar Roxas: I want Filipinos to experience the life I live

Former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas on Sunday vowed to give Filipinos a comfortable life if he becomes president.

"Bakit ko gustong maging pangulo? Maraming mga pagkakataon sa buhay ko alam ko wala sa mamayang Pilipino," Roxas said during his closing remarks for the first Pilipinas Debates 2016 held in Cagayan De Oro City.

Roxas is the grandson of the late former President Manuel Roxas and a scion of the wealthy Araneta clan. His background has been a source of criticism from those saying he doesn't have empathy for the poor.

But he says the experience of having a secure life is what he wanted to give to Filipinos if elected in May 9 elections.

"May trabaho ako, may naipon ako.

Roxas said he cannot bear to face his parents and his family if he do not try do something to improve the lives of the Filipino people.

Maraming salamat po,” Roxas said. —JST, GMA News
