Duterte keeps 'very good' satisfaction rating —SWS survey


President Rodrigo Duterte has maintained his "very good" satisfaction rating in the first quarter of 2017, a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed.

In SWS' survey from March 25-28 published by BusinessWorld, 75 percent were satisfied with Duterte's performance in the first quarter of the year. Twelve percent were undecided and 12 percent were not satisfied.

The SWS said these results yielded a +63 "very good" net public satisfaction rating, the same as Duterte's satisfaction rating in December 2016.

The survey was conducted via face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults nationwide with sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages, and ±6% each for Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao

The last two survey results showed a one percent drop from Duterte's net public satisfaction rating in the third quarter of 2016, which was +64.

The survey said Duterte was able to keep his "very good" satisfaction rating with an "excellent" satisfaction rating in Mindanao, where he got +87, up 13 points from December 2016's +74.

The President's satisfaction rating also increased in Metro Manila, where he got +64. It was five points higher than his last December's +59.

Duterte's satisfaction rating in Balance Luzon, meanwhile, dropped nine points from +60 in December down to +51.

His satisfaction rating in the Visayas also increased at +62, one point higher than his +61 rating last December.

The survey also said that Duterte's satisfaction rating in urban and rural areas went down by three points at +63 from +66, but it was still within the range of the "very good" classification.

The positive survey results came even with continued criticisms against Duterte's war on drugs, which has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of drug suspects in the last nine months since he took the presidency.

Masa still satisfied with Duterte

The SWS said the masa or people belonging to Class D remained consistent with its satisfaction rating on Duterte at +64, the same as his rating last December.

Duterte's satisfaction among respondents belonging to classes ABC was at +56, up four points from last December's +52. He also still enjoys huge satisfaction among respondents in class E at +60.

Male and female respondents also gave Duterte high satisfaction ratings with +65 and +61, respectively.

Among age groups, the survey showed Duterte's satisfaction fell from "excellent" to "very good" in the 18 to 24 year old bracket. It declined 11 points to =+59 from the last quarter's +70.

The older age bracket of 25 to 34  years old, meanwhile, gave Duterte an "excellent" (+71) from his "very good" (+66) rating last December.

His satisfaction rating among respondents in the 35- to 44-year-old bracket fell six points, from +65 last December to +59 in March.

In the age groups of 45- to 54-year-olds and 55 years old and above, Duterte maintained got +64 and +61, respectively

The survey also showed that Duterte got an "excellent" +76 from respondents who had college degrees and a "very good" rating of +60 among high school graduates.

Elementary school graduates, meanwhile, gave Duterte a +64 "very good" satisfaction, up 8 points from +56 last December. Non-elementary graduates gave Duterte a +60 "very good" satisfaction rating. —ALG, GMA News
