DOJ files raps vs. suspected Korean-American drug supplier Jun No

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed charges with the Pasay City Regional Trial Court against the Korean-American drug supplier who recently escaped from hospital detention.

Jun No, who also carries the aliases Justine and Jazz, was charged with violation of Section 5, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165) for selling 140 tablets of ecstasy in an entrapment operation at the parking lot of an Indian restaurant in Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City on April 5.

Authorities said the confiscated party drugs had an estimated value of P420,000.

The DOJ leaned on the "uncontroverted evidence" filed by the PNP Drug Enforcement Group in filing charges against No.

"In the instant case, evidence presented by complainant PNP-DEG clearly established that respondent [No] illegally transacted, that is, sold the 140 tablets to SPO2 [Angelito] Aguilan in a buy-bust operation. Further, recovered from the respondent are the boodle money used in the operation," the April 7 resolution stated.

Another preliminary investigation was set for the complaint involving No's sale of two pieces of ecstasy tablets to poseur buyer Aguilan at a restaurant in Malate, Manila on April 2.

Assistant State Prosecutor Noel Antay Jr. prepared the resolution and was approved by Prosecutor General Victor Sepulveda.

On April 15, No escaped from the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City, where he was confined after undergoing an operation for acute appendicitis.

Charges have already been filed against the companion and two police personnel guarding the American-Korean drug suspect.

SPO2 Michael Macarubbo of the PNP-DEG and Intelligence Officer 2 Ernie Eugenio of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency are now facing charges for evasion through negligence.

Police said Macarubbo went out to eat breakfast while Eugenio fell asleep.

Darleen "Soeyang" Son, meanwhile, was charged with obstruction of justice as she allegedly gave P3,000 to No, which police said was used for the latter’s escape. — RSJ, GMA News
