Rock dela Rosa formally enters PNPA

Rock dela Rosa, only son of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa, formally entered the PNP Academy Monday to follow the footsteps of his father.

Photos provided by the aide of the PNP chief showed the younger Dela Rosa with other cadet 4th class undergoing the reception rites for new recruits.

On the PNPA website, reception rites is described as “a time-honored tradition for welcoming the chosen few who heeded the call. It is an initiation of the ultimate kind, an ordeal that put into severe test the ambitious' worth and determination. Needless to say, it is a foretaste of the regimental life that lies ahead.”

For four years, the cadets will reside in the same barracks, eat the same food, wear the same uniform, and pass through the same courses of the cadetship program.

The PNP chief earlier expressed apprehension on his son’s entry to the Academy.

“Kinakabahan ako kung kakayanin ba niya. I wish him good luck. Proud ako pero bilang ama kinakabahan din,” Dela Rosa told reporters in a press conference during the presentation of the top 10 PNPA graduates for this year.

“Physically alam ko kayang-kaya niya. Malakas ‘yun eh. Pero ‘yung psychological, I don’t know. Iba siya, iba ako,” he added.

Rock then responded by saying that his entering the Academy is out of love for President Rodrigo Duterte and the Filipino people.

“Please understand that I’m doing this out of love. Gusto ko kayo tulungan ni Presidente maipatupad ang pagbabago na matagal nang ipinagdarasal ng mga Pilipino kaya kakayanin ko rin ito kung gugustuhin ng Diyos,” he said. — RSJ, GMA News
