Palace suspends ERC chair Salazar

Malacañang has suspended Energy Regulatory Commission's chairperson and CEO Jose Vicente Salazar over accusations of corruption.

"The Office of the President has placed ERC Chair Jose Vicente Salazar on preventive suspension pending investigation of the various complaints filed against him," Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in a statement.

Based on a document signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on May 2, Salazar was placed under a 90-day preventive suspension.

The suspension came after ERC employees filed a complaint against Salazar at the Office of the Ombudsman in April over civil service violations pertaining to the appointment of some officials.

Salazar is also facing other accusations, including violation of the Government Procurement Reform Act for certain projects. — BAP, GMA News
