Napoles willing to turn state-witness in pork barrel scam cases —lawyer

Janet Lim Napoles is open to turn state witness if the government would ask her to testify against lawmakers and other government officials accused in connection with the multi-billion-peso pork barrel scam, her lawyer said on Monday.

Atty. Stephen David made the remark after the Court of Appeals reversed Napoles' conviction for serious illegal detention in connection with the alleged abduction of a pork barrel scam whistleblower and former employee Benhur Luy.

David said Napoles would also move to be placed under house arrest while she continues to face trial for multiple plunder charges in connection with the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam.

"Magmo motion talaga kami... Mas malaki yung security risk ngayon laban kay Mrs. Napoles," David said in Joseph Morong's report on "24 Oras."

Napoles is currently detained at the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City.

In a separate interview, David said the truth prevailed in the CA decision that cleared Napoles of the crime.

"Matagal na naming alam na wala naman talagang illegal detention (na nangyari) pero ayaw kami paniwalaan. At least ngayon lumabas na ang katototohan. Nanaig ang totoo," he said.

David said the decision only showed that Luy is a liar.

"Lumalabas na sinungaling si Benhur. Sinasabi niya na-detain sya eh hindi naman totoo," the lawyer said.  —with Virgil Lopez/NB, GMA News
