Mocha Uson to De Lima: I'm not a blind Duterte follower

Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson on Wednesday denied she is a blind follower of President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Hindi po totoo na blind follower ako. In fact, 'di ba nga po kasama po ako noong nag-organize ako ng 'Palit VP' rally para ipa-impeach si VP Leni Robredo," Uson said in an Unang Balita interview.

Uson said she clearly opposed Duterte when she helped organized the anti-Robredo rally.

Sen. Leila de Lima on Tuesday pleaded to the sexy actress not to "blindly follow" Duterte.

Uson said except for Duterte's position in the impeachment moves against Robredo, she supports all of the policies of the president.

"Unang-una po, siya ang pangulo and I support him, at he knows best. Mas alam niya kung ano ang makakabuti sa bayan natin," she said.

The former sexy actress was appointed earlier this month by Duterte as Assistant Secretary at the Presidential Communications Operations Office.

She said she has a very clear job description: to promote in social media the achievements and promising projects and policies of the Duterte administration.

"Ang scope ng trabaho ko ay ipaliwanag ang mga magagandang trabaho po ni Pangulong Duterte, iyong Dutertenomics, 'Build, Build, Build," she said, referring to the P8.2-trillion six-year infrastructure program of the Duterte administration.

She said she is also tasked to connect, through social media, with overseas Filipino workers who are seeking help from the government.

In De Lima's statement, she asked netizens to stop bashing Uson.

The former sexy actress said she was surprised by De Lima's show of support to her appointment.

"Siyempre gaya ng mga netizens natin, nagulat po ako. Parang magugunaw na raw po ang mundo. Pero on a serious note, nagpapasalamat po ako sa kanyang pagtatanggol," she said.

During the interview, Uson also sent a message to De Lima.

"Ang advise ko naman po kay Ma'am Leila de Lima, only the truth can set you free. Kaya mabuting aminin iyong mga ginawa nating mali at kasalanan at 'yun lang po ang magbibigay sa atin ng kapayapaan," Uson said.

De Lima was arrested and detained at Camp Crame after the government filed illegal drug trading charges against her in connection to allegations that she had a hand in the drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison during her stint as Justice secretary. —ALG, GMA News
