China’s rocket launchers seen taken up in bilateral mechanism —Palace

China’s installation of rocket launchers on the disputed Kagitingan Reef might be raised through the bilateral consultative mechanism to be inaugurated on Friday, Malacañang said Thursday.

“I think that will be covered by the bilateral consultative mechanism… I’m sure it will be opened up. That will be touched on,” presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said at a media briefing in Malacañang.

Philippine Ambassador to China Jose “Chito” Sta. Romana, who will head the country’s delegation for the bilateral consultative mechanism, refused to provide details on the government’s talking points during the meeting.

The first China-Philippines bilateral consultation mechanism on the South China Sea issue will be held in Guiyang in China's Guizhou province on May 19. The Chinese delegation will be led by Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin. —NB, GMA News
