Trillanes on Fariñas’ ethics threat: Twisted morals or high on something

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Thursday scored House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas for threatening to recommend the filing of an ethics complaint against Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano.

“Fariñas is threatening to file an ethics case against Cong. Alejano for doing what is right yet vigorously defending the corrupt and murdering ways of his mob boss, Duterte,” Trillanes said in a text message to reporters.

“This guy must either have disturbingly twisted morals or very high on something,” he added.

Trillanes, a former Navy officer, is part of the Magdalo group, whose party-list solon, Rep. Alejano, lodged the first impeachment complaint against Duterte.

The House justice committee earlier this week junked the said impeachment complaint as “insufficient in substance.”

Alejano then said he is considering filing a complaint against Duterte before the International Criminal Court (ICC), which the President said the congressman is “free to do.”

On Wednesday, Fariñas said he may recommend that Alejano be slapped with an ethics complaint if the latter pursues this move before the ICC.

Fariñas, however, noted that the final say on the matter will fall upon Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, Duterte’s top ally in the House.

Fariñas said Alejano’s moves seem to follow a “strategy” for their “propaganda” against the President. —NB, GMA News
