Retired Navy officer appointed to BCDA


A retired Philippine Navy Officer was among the 14 individuals appointed to government positions under the Duterte administration in June.

Duterte on June 16 signed the appointment papers for Retired Vice Admiral Ferdinand Golez to join the board of directors of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). But the letter also said that he would only serve until June 30.

The BCDA is tasked to accelerate the conversion of former military bases into investment centers and to optimize revenue generation of these former camps.

Golez became the Flag Officer In Command of the Philippine Navy from August 2008 to May 2010. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1976. He is the brother of former Parañaque Rep. Roilo Golez.

Duterte’s other appointees for June include former Civil Service Commission-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao regional director Leopoldo Roberto Valderosa Jr. as a commissioner at the Civil Service Commission, replacing commissioner Nieves Osorio, He was appointed June 7, with his term expiring in February 2020.

National Youth Commission Chairperson Aiza Seguerra (Cariza Yamson Seguerra) beginning June 14 became a member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board Appeals Committee, representing the NYC.

Other appointees are as follows, as released by Malacañang on Monday:

1. Arnold Colama – member, representing the Mindanao subsistence farmers, board of directors, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation until June 30, appointed June 7

2. Melchior Acosta Jr. – member, board of trustees, Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System until June 30, appointed June 14

3. Jesus Guevarra II – chairman, board of directors, Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corporation – Industrial Authority, a term of three years, appointed June 14

4. Maria Victoria Sarmiento – State Solicitor II, Office of the Solicitor General, appointed June 14

5. Philip Rodriguez – member, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board Appeals Committee, until September 30, appointed June 14

6. Marcos Dacanay – Director III, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, appointed June 14

7. Claudio Ybañez – Director III, Department of Agrarian Reform, appointed June 14

8. Rodolfo Tuazon – member, board of directors, DBP Leasing Corporation until June 30, appointed June 14

9. Teresita Deliu – Director III, Presidential Museum and Library, Office of the President, appointed June 14

10. Roldan Gorgonio – assistant secretary, Department of Agriculture, appointed June 16

11. Rufino Ibay Jr. – member, board of directors, John Hay Management Corporation, until June 30, appointed June 16
