Duterte condoled with the family's patriarch, bank security guard Dexter Carlos, who arrived home on June 27 to find his entire family — his wife Estrella; three children Donnie, Ella, and Dexter Jr.; and mother-in-law Auring — dead from multiple stab wounds.
Also at the wake were the family's relatives who travelled from Baggao, Cagayan Valley and Tagum, Davao Del Norte and who wore white ribbons around their heads.

Police chief Dir. Gen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, along with local officials, accompanied Duterte during the visit.
To date, suspect Carmelino "Miling" Navarro Ibañes, a 26-year-old construction worker, already admitted to raping Auring and Estrella and to stabbing the family to death.
He also admitted to using illegal drugs before committing the crime with two other people although he tested negative for drug use. — MDM/KVD, GMA News
