Lawmaker says more impeachment raps may be filed against Robredo

A lawmaker on Sunday revealed that three more impeachment complaints may be filed against Vice President Leni Robredo by August.

"Maaaring merong pangatlo o pang-apat o panglima na maipa-file at hindi ko alam kung sinong nagpaplano nito. Pero kung merong maipa-file 'yan, meron nang endorser 'yan," PBA party-list Representative Jericho Nograles said in radio dzBB interview.

Nograles added that the new complaints may be filed by August.

The lawmaker said that he got the information from the grapevine and confirmed that he may know the people behind it, but declined to reveal identities.

Nograles said there is a possibility that the complaint will be passed on to him for endorsement.

He said he did not know the groups' basis for the planned impeachment complaints against the Vice President.

Nograles also cited during the interview Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez's earlier pronouncement of a series of impeachment complaints that may be filed before the House of Representatives after session resumes on July 24.

Alvarez had cited the possible impeachment complaints against Robredo and Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Two impeachment complaints have been filed before the House of Representatives, but failed to get endorsements during the last session.

The two complaints were pushed by Marcos loyalist Oliver Lozano and a group of supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte led by lawyers including Trixie Angeles, Bruce Rivera and Antonio Contreras.

Nograles said he declined to endorse complaint of the lawyers' group because he did not like the approach of the group.

"Ako 'yong tinatawag na accidental endorser. 'Yong nangyari do'n parang isang episode ng 'Wow Mali.' Hindi ko alam na ako pala ang iniisip nilang endorser diyan kaya nagulat ako nang makita ko yong mga papeles na na-present sa akin na ako ay endorser at complainant na wala naman akong pahintulot," he said.

He added that he did not like the way the complaint was written and asked the group to make improvements before he decides if it is deserving of his endorsement. —ALG, GMA News
