Evacuees allowed to push through with ‘symbolic march’ to Marawi

Evacuees in Lanao del Sur will be allowed to do a "symbolic march" to areas in Marawi City cleared by the government, a report on GMA News' "News TV Live" said Sunday.

According to the report, Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana allowed evacuees to go on the march, provided they do not enter the battle zone.

The symbolic march was also allowed on the condition that it be done before or after the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

This development comes after a dialogue between religious leaders and evacuees in Marawi City.

According to a separate report on GMA's "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday, among the topics discussed during the dialogue were the reduction of airstrikes, and for evacuees to be relocated to nearby provinces.

In response, Lorenzana said the government is now studying these suggestions.
