DENIES LEAKING FB POST FOR DIVERSION

Faeldon aide: Can House be easily distracted by a ‘nobody’ like me?

The beleaguered chief of staff of Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon on Saturday slammed House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas for insinuating that she might have leaked her own "imbecile" Facebook post against Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez to divert public attention from the drug smuggling issues hounding the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

"That is an absurd allegation not backed up by a single piece of evidence," Atty. Mandy Anderson, chief of staff of BOC chief Faeldon, said in a text message to GMA News Online.

"If the ML (Majority Leader) believes his own theory, it would not only be an insult to the other members of the HoR (House of Representatives), but  it would truly be a sad state we are living in if our elected representatives can be distracted from a major shabu smuggling issue just because of the facebook post of a 'no-one,'" Anderson stressed.

The BOC official made the statement after Fariñas issued a statement alleging that she along with her supposed "cohorts" might have leaked the "imbecile" Facebook post criticizing Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez to divert public attention from the House investigation into the P6.4 billion worth of smuggled shabu.

"During the [House] hearing, [Anderson] in gleeful mood claimed that her post was private and although she apologized to me and the other members of the House, she did not apologize to the Speaker," the lawmaker said.

"Who could have leaked her private post if not she herself and her cohorts in order to divert the public from the House investigation of the successful smuggling of more than five billion pesos worth of shabu through the [Bureau of Customs] Express Lane?" the lawmaker added. — MDM, GMA News
