House medical team visits Faeldon

After failing to attend twice in the House of Representatives' hearing on the P6.4-billion worth of shabu shipment from China, the House medical team and sergeant-at-arms visited on Thursday Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon in a hospital in Taytay, Rizal.

In a report by GMA News' Tricia Zafra on Balitanghali, Dr. Arthur Bayani said the Bureau of Customs (BOC) chief experienced a heart attack, who was just going to have his dentures done.

Faeldon was confined at the Manila East Medical Center for observation, the same television report said.

Bayani said Faeldon needs to undergo medication due to his heart attack, which may have been caused by stress.

Faeldon is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon, according to Bayani.

The doctor recommended that Faeldon should rest for three days before attending congressional hearings.

The doctor also found that the BOC chief's cholesterol level is high and is a pre-diabetic.

The House's medical team will submit its report on Faeldon health condition to the committee on ways and means on Thursday. — Ted Cordero/RSJ, GMA News
