Give me affidavit on Paolo’s role in shabu shipment, I will resign —Duterte

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday dared the accusers of his son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, to produce a documentary evidence against him.

Duterte in a speech during the Southern Philippines Medical Center centennial celebration in Davao City said that he told fellow government workers that "the mere mention of our names means corruption."

"So lumabas ‘yung pangalan ni… ‘Yung si Paolo, ‘yung Vice Mayor ngayon... And if my son was really into it or in is in there, all you have to do is to produce the paper—because there are two ways of evidence—oral pati documentary," he said.

"Sabi ko, 'Just give me an affidavit and I will step down as President of this Republic.' And that is my commitment to you now. That is my word," he added.

Vice Mayor Duterte's name was mentioned during a House hearing on the P6.4 billion shabu shipment.

Customs broker Mark Taguba on Monday said that eldest presidential son was "name-dropped" by BOC officials who were receiving bribes.

The vice mayor had refused to comment on the issue, pointing out that Taguba's statement was based on hearsay anyway. —NB, GMA News
