Duterte says revolutionary gov’t can bring change to the PHL

President Rodrigo Duterte said on Tuesday that he believed that a revolutionary government would bring change to the country.

Speaking at a swearing-in ceremony for his new appointees, Duterte recalled how that late President Corazon Aquino established a revolutionary government when dictator Ferdinand Marcos was ousted after the People Power Revolution of 1986.

Nonetheless, the president made it clear that he would not declare a revolutionary government.

“For the Philippines to really go up, sabi ko, ang kailangan ng mga tao is not martial law. Go for ginawa ni Cory, revolutionary government. Pero huwag kayong magtingin sa akin, hindi ako pwede diyan… na you declare all positions of the government vacant and change all,” Duterte had said.

He also pointed out a mistake Aquino’s revolutionary government made.

“Ang mali lang kasi ni Ma’am Aquino was ibinigay niya uli sa mga politiko. So balik… It was the golden opportunity,” he explained.

The president floated the revolutionary-government idea while complaining about the procurement process and government corruption.

“Ako, my advice to a president who wants to change, do not go for martial law, gawain lang isyu. Go for a revolutionary government, para tapos lahat,” he said.
